Alan has over 40 years of experience in the power industry, over 25 of which have been in Africa. Prior to becoming Group Chairman, Alan spent 8 years as Group CEO; during that time, he successfully led the company through its initial phase of growth, where it has established itself as one of the leading IPPs in Africa, with over 750MW of operating capacity and more than 1.5GW of projects under development. Alan has particular expertise in power plant design and construction, project development, and electricity distribution.
Prior to joining Azura Power, Alan spent 20 years at Fieldstone, a specialist financial and commercial advisor in infrastructure. There, he was a controlling shareholder and chaired the African Executive Committee. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions, project finance, and privatisations in the power industry.
Alan has a first-class honours degree in Mechanical engineering, is a chartered engineer and is a member of the Institute of Energy. Alan also holds a masters in international accounting and finance from the LSE.
